The Republic of Liberia, located in northwest Africa, is working on a long-term strategy to develop its potable water sector, in collaboration with RED LAMP LLC, the main contractor for the water supply improvement project in Monrovia. The project aims to provide safe, reliable, and sustainable water for the city’s residents.
The project involves the rehabilitation of the main 22 km transmission line between the White Plains water treatment plant and the Paynesville traffic signal, as well as the construction of a new 33 km distribution network. The project also includes the construction of a semi-underground water tank with a capacity of 7,000 m³, an above-ground water tank with a capacity of 250 m³, and the rehabilitation of the existing tank. Additionally, 25 drainage and shut-off valves will be installed on the network, and 25 suction valves will be installed to relieve water pressure.
The project will also rehabilitate the White Plains water treatment plant, install a sludge treatment plant, and processing equipment and pumps. It includes the rehabilitation of the plant’s electrical equipment and processing equipment. The technical solutions are based on the rehabilitation of the existing networks in Monrovia after exploring several options.
The project is funded by RED LAMP LLC, coordinated with CREATIS WATER CORPORATION for implementation, and supported technically by the LWSC as a governmental entity to facilitate the project’s achievement.
